# Liberation and Protection By chanting the holy name, one can return home, back to Godhead. Even improper chanting yields beneficial results. A devotee is satisfied in any condition simply by chanting, and the holy name protects from falldown, danger, and fear. --- ## Returning Home, Back to Godhead **In Kali-yuga, one can attain liberation and return to the spiritual kingdom by chanting:** ![[sb/12/3/51|My dear King, although Kali-yuga is full of faults, there is still one good quality about this age. [[cc/madhya/1/194|Madhya 1.194-95]] Purport --- ## Satisfied in Any Condition of Life **A pure devotee can be satisfied in any condition of life simply by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa:** For the spiritual master, a pure devotee, heaven and hell are both the same if there is no Kṛṣṇa consciousness. In hell people are suffering in so many ways, and in heaven they are enjoying their senses in so many ways, but **a devotee of the Lord can live any place where there is Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and since he brings this consciousness with him, he is always self-satisfied. If he is sent to hell, he will be satisfied simply chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa.** —*The Science of Self-Realization* --- **Anyone who constantly chants the holy name remains satisfied in any condition:** ![[cc/antya/3/54#purport|It is to be understood that any person who is constantly engaged in chanting the holy names of the Lord...has attained a transcendental affection for Kṛṣṇa, and as such, in any condition of life, he remains satisfied simply by remembering the Lord's name in full affection and ecstatic love]] —*The Nectar of Devotion* --- **Even in a hellish condition, the devotee may chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and be happy:** ![[sb/3/15/49#purport|God gives him the prerogative to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Material life is temporary, and so the ups and downs of life may come and go. When they come, **one should be as tolerant as a tree and as humble and meek as the straw in the street, but certainly he must engage himself in Kṛṣṇa consciousness by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare.** —*Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead* --- ## Protection from Falldown **If one keeps himself pure and steady by constantly chanting, one will be saved from falldown:** ![[sb/6/1/63#purport|There are so many dangers in this material world that one may fall down from an exalted position at any time. [[bg/9/31|9.31]] Purport --- ## Protection from Danger and Fear **To be free from danger, one should chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra:** ![[sb/10/6/3#purport|Everyone should take to chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra to be saved from all kinds of danger. This world is full of danger. Therefore we should be encouraged to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra so that in our family, society, neighborhood and nation, everything will be smooth and free from danger]] —SB [[sb/10/6/3|10.6.3]] Purport --- **When chanting the mahā-mantra, one is completely safe even in this dangerous material world:** **When chanting the mahā-mantra, we are completely safe, even in this most dangerous position.** We should always be aware that in this material world, we are always in a dangerous position. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam confirms: *padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām*. In this world, there is danger at every step. The devotees of the Lord, however, are not meant to remain in this miserable, dangerous place. Therefore we should take care to advance in Kṛṣṇa consciousness while in this human form. —*The Path of Perfection* --- **Prayer for protection by the holy names:** ![[sb/6/8/27|May the glorification of the transcendental name, form, qualities and paraphernalia of the Supreme Personality of Godhead protect us from the influence of bad planets, meteors, envious human beings, serpents, scorpions, and animals like tigers and wolves]] —SB [[sb/6/8/27|6.8.27-30]] --- **By remembering Viṣṇu (by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa) one can be protected from many dangers:** ![[sb/10/6/27#purport|The material world is full of danger. Everyone is afraid of fear personified, but fear personified is afraid of Kṛṣṇa. **By crying out the word "Kṛṣṇa," the boys at once transcended the fearful situation.** —*Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead* --- **By chanting the holy name, one becomes fearless of death:** If one can chant and hear Hare Kṛṣṇa and always remember Lord Kṛṣṇa, then **he is sure to become fearless of death, which may come at any moment.** —*The Nectar of Devotion* --- **We should not forget the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa under any circumstances:** ![[sb/8/3/1#purport|It is imperative, therefore, that all devotees in Kṛṣṇa consciousness practice chanting some mantra...We should not forget the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra under any circumstances.
