Ādi 16.83 ## Text > gaṅgāra mahattva—sādhya, sādhana tāhāra > viṣṇu-pādotpatti—'anumāna' alaṅkāra ## Synonyms *gaṅgāra*—of the Ganges; *mahattva*—opulences; *sādhya*—subject matter; *sādhana*—means; *tāhāra*—of that; *viṣṇu*-*pāda*-*utpatti*—her origin from the lotus feet of the Lord; *anumāna*—called *anumāna* (hypothesis); *alaṅkāra*—an ornament. ## Translation **"The real glory of mother Ganges is that she has grown from the lotus feet of Lord Viṣṇu. Such a hypothesis is another ornament, called anumāna.**
