purañjayas tasya suta
indravāha itīritaḥ
kakutstha iti cāpy uktaḥ
śṛṇu nāmāni karmabhiḥ
Synonyms
puram-jayaḥ—Purañjaya (“the conqueror of the residence”); tasya—his (Vikukṣi’s); sutah—son; indra-vahah—Indravāha (“he whose carrier is Indra”); iti—thus; iritah—known as such; Kakutsthah—Kakutstha (“situated on the hump of a bull”); iti—thus; ca—also; api—indeed; uktah—known as such; srnu—just hear; namani—all the names; karmabhiḥ—according to one’s work. ¶
Translation
The son of Saśāda was Purañjaya, who is also known as Indravāha and sometimes as Kakutstha. Please hear from me how he received different names for different activities. ¶
