niḥsattvā lolupā rājan
nirudyogā gata-trapāḥ
yadā copekṣitā lakṣmyā
babhūvur daitya-dānavāḥ
Synonyms
nihsattvah—without strength; lolupah—very greedy; rājan—O King; nirudyogāḥ—frustrated; gata-trapah—shameless; yadā—when; ca—also; upeksitah—neglected; lakṣmyā—by the goddess of fortune; babhūvuḥ—they became; daitya-danavah—the demons and Rākṣasas. ¶
Translation
O King, because of being neglected by the goddess of fortune, the demons and Rākṣasas were depressed, bewildered and frustrated, and thus they became shameless. ¶
