śaṅkha-tūrya-mṛdaṅgānāṁ
bherī-ḍamariṇāṁ mahān
hasty-aśva-ratha-pattīnāṁ
nadatāṁ nisvano ‘bhavat

Synonyms

śaṅkha—of conchshells; tūrya—of big bugles; mṛdaṅgānām—and of drums; bherī—of bugles; ḍamariṇām—of kettledrums; mahān—great and tumultuous; hasti—of elephants; asva—of horses; ratha-pattīnām—of fighters on chariots or on the ground; nadatām—all of them making sounds together; nisvanaḥ—a tumultuous sound; abhavat—so became. 

Translation

The sounds of the conchshells, bugles, drums, bherīs and ḍamarīs [kettledrums], as well as the sounds made by the elephants, horses and soldiers, who were both on chariots and on foot, were tumultuous.
