Paramatma in All Beings

![[0031_SB-1_1_11.jpg]]
*Lord Paramātmā pervades all things, just as fire permeates wood.*

The Supersoul

![[0032_SB-2_1_3.jpg]]
*A plenary portion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead known as
the Supersoul resides within the body in the region of the heart. He measures about eight inches and has four hands, carrying a lotus, a wheel of a chariot, a conchshell, and a club respectively. His mouth expresses His happiness, His eyes are spread like lotus petals and His garments,
bedecked with valuable jewels, are yellowish like the saffron of a kadamba flower. His ornaments are all made of gold, set with jewels, and He wears a glowing headdress and earrings. On His chest He wears the Kaustubha jewel engraved with a beautiful calf, on His shoulders He wears other jewels, and around His neck He wears a garland of fresh flowers. About His waist He wears an ornamental wreath; on His fingers, rings studded with valuable jewels. His leglets, His bangles, His oiled hair
curling with bluish tint and His beautiful smiling face are all very pleasing.
The Lord's magnanimous pastimes and the glowing glancing of His smiling face all indicate His extensive benedictions.*

Sankhya-yoga Meditation

![[0036_SB-3-4-4.jpg]]
*The perfection of yoga is to meditate on the Supreme Personality of Godhead within one's heart and make Him the ultimate goal of life.*

Supersoul Present in All Hearts

![[0046_SB-7-3-4.jpg]]
*Queen Kuntī knew that in reality Kṛṣṇa was neither her nephew nor an ordinary family member of her paternal house. She knew perfectly well that He was the primeval Lord, who lives in everyone's heart as the Supersoul. Thus she addressed Him as "the supreme controller, without beginning or end, the all-pervasive one." Here we see how Lord Kṛṣṇa's all-pervasive Supersoul feature is expanded in the hearts of all creatures. In accordance with each living entity's state of consciousness, Lord Kṛṣṇa creates many kinds of bodies – bodies of human beings, animals, birds, plants, insects, and so on. And in the heart of all these innumerable bodily forms, the Lord resides with the living being as the Supersoul. The Supersoul in every body gives intelligence to the individual soul according to his capacity for understanding, and He manifest Himself to the individual soul according to his degree of austerity, penance, and spiritual realization. According to good or bad karma, the Supersoul directs the wandering of all living entities, who are seated within the bodily machine made of the material energy. One who sees the Supersoul accompanying the individual soul in all bodies, and who understands that neither the soul nor the Supersoul is ever destroyed, actually sees, and he therefore gradually advances toward spiritual perfection.*

Samsara: Who Am I?

![[0060_SB-3-4-8.jpg]]
*EN SB 3.2 1987: The first step in Kapiladeva’s sāṅkya-yoga system is to understand the difference between the soul and the body, and how the soul passes through various bodies by the process of reincarnation.*

The Separated Material Energies

![[0064_BG-25.jpg]]
*7.4–5: “Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence, and false ego – all together these eight constitute My separated material energies. Besides these, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature.” The soul and the Supersoul are present in the heart of the body made of material energy. The subtle body of mind, intelligence, and false ego are represented by the red dot on the figure’s forehead. The material elements of earth, water, fire, air, and ether are what the figure’s body is made of.*

Two Birds Seated on the Tree of the Body

![[0065_BG--10.jpg]]
*2.22, purport: Kṛṣṇa and the living entity are seated on the tree of the body. The bird on the left is captivated by the fruits of the tree, while the friendly bird on the right acts as witness. Similarly, the embodied soul enjoys or suffers the fruits of his material activities, while the friendly Supersoul acts as witness and waits for His friend to turn to Him.*

The Vision of the Spiritualist

![[0066_BG--20.jpg]]
*5.18: “The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle /brāhmaṇa,/ a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater [outcaste].” The sage’s equal vision is based on seeing the soul and the Supersoul in each body.*

Meditation on the Supersoul

![[0066_BG--21.jpg]]

Equal Vision

![[0072_BG-56.jpg]]
*The Supreme Lord said, "Those who are wise lament neither for the living nor for the dead."*

0076/BG-46

![[0076_BG-46.jpg]]
*The humble sage sees with equal vision a learned and gentle brāhmaṇa, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater.*

Transmigration According to Consciousness

![[0077_BG-37.jpg]]
*15.8–9: “The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another, as the air carries aromas. Thus he takes one kind of body and again quits it to take another. The living entity, thus taking another gross body, obtains a certain type of ear, eye, tongue, nose and sense of touch, which are grouped about the mind. He thus enjoys a particular set of sense objects.” Divine consciousness carries one upward into a body in the mode of goodness or ultimately into leaving the material world behind altogether. Ignorant or animalistic consciousness leads one toward a body that facilitates animal consciousness.*

The Five Factors of Action

![[0077_BG-41.jpg]]
*18.14: “The place of action [the body], the performer, the various senses, the many different kinds of endeavor, and ultimately the Supersoul – these are the five factors of action. Whatever right or wrong action a man performs by body, mind, or speech is caused by these five factors.”*

Meditation on Paramatma

![[0107_SB-3-4-4.jpg]]
*One should concentrate on the tip of the nose with half-closed eyes and see the form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.*

The Supersoul

![[0109_SB-11-3-6.jpg]]
*The Supersoul is the source of all senses, yet He is without senses. He is unattached, though He is the maintainer of all living beings. He transcends the modes of nature, yet He is the master of the modes of nature.*

Paramatma

![[Art-0237_Vis7-NE.jpg]]
*The Bhagavad-gītā tells us that while the individual is the master of his or her own body, Kṛṣṇa, as the Supersoul, is the supreme master of every body. The indwelling Supersoul sits in everyone’s heart, ready to give us the wisdom to find our way back to the spiritual world.*

Transmigration of the Soul

![[0064_BG--9.jpg]]
*2.22: “As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.” The conditioned soul changes bodies from childhood to youth to old age and, at death, moves into the womb of another mother.*
