The Spiritual Worlds

![[0023_SB-1-1-front.jpg]]
*The original spiritual planet, which resembles the whorl of a huge lotus flower, is called Goloka Vṛndāvana. It is the abode of Lord Kṛṣṇa, the original Personality of Godhead. This original planet of Goloka throws off a spiritual effulgence called the brahmajyoti, within which are unlimited numbers of spiritual planets, or Vaikuṇṭhalokas. The conception
of spiritual bliss (brahmānanda) is fully present in those planets. Each of them is eternal, indestructible, and free from all kinds of inebrieties experienced in the material world. Each of them is self-illuminating and more powerfully dazzling than (if we can imagine) the total sunshine of millions of mundane suns. The inhabitants of those planets have full knowledge of everything; they are all godly and free from all sorts of material hankerings. They have nothing to do there except to render transcendental loving service to the Supreme Lord Nārāyaṇa, who is the predominating Deity in every Vaikuṇṭha planet. The Lord and His eternal servitors in the transcendental kingdom all have eternal forms, which are auspicious, infallible, spiritual, and eternally youthful. In other words, they do not experience birth, death, old age, or disease. Thus that eternal land is full of transcendental enjoyment, beauty, and bliss.*

Brahmā heard the sound tapa (penance) vibrated in the ether, and he sat
in meditation. After one thousand celestial years, the sound of Kṛṣṇa's flute entered into the ear of Brahmā as the Vedic mantra oṁ. When the sound vibration of Kṛṣṇa's flute was expressed through the mouth of
Brahmā, it became the Gāyatrī mantra. Thus by the influence of Kṛṣṇa's

The Birth of Lord Krsna

![[0047_SB-10-1-4.jpg]]
*One reason why Lord Kṛṣṇa's activities appeared bewildering to Queen Kuntī was that He came to this world to fulfill many purposes simultaneously. One important purport was simply to satisfy the desires of His dear devotees Vasudeva and Devakī. In their former lives, Vasudeva and Devakī were known as Sutapā and Pṛśni. They were ordered by Lord Brahmā to produce offspring, and so they engaged themselves in severe austerities for thousands of years. Being pleased by their penances, Kṛṣṇa came before them and asked them what they wanted. They said, "We want a son like You. That is our desire." Kṛṣṇa agreed, and in their next lives Sutapā and Pṛśni (now Vasudeva and Devakī) had the extraordinary opportunity to play the role of Lord Kṛṣṇa's parents. As shown here, Vasudeva and Devakī in the dense darkness of night, like the full moon rising the eastern horizon. The newborn child had very wonderful lotuslike eyes and bore in His four hands a conch shell, disc, club, and lotus. On His chest was the mark of Śrīvatsa, and on His neck the brilliant Kaustubha gem. Kṛṣṇa in his hands, he said to Nanda Mahārāja, “To increase the transcendental
bliss of the cowherd men of Gokula, this child Kṛṣṇa will always act auspiciously for you. And by His grace only, you will surpass all difficulties. Demons cannot harm the demigods, who always have Lord
Viṣṇu on their side. Similarly, any person or group attached to Kṛṣṇa is extremely fortunate. Because such persons are very much affectionate toward Kṛṣṇa, they cannot be defeated by demons like the associates of Kaṁsa. O Nanda Mahārāja, in His transcendental qualities, opulence,

Among the cowherd boys, some placed their lunch on flowers, some on leaves, fruits, or bunches of leaves, some actually in their baskets, some

Krsna Enters Dvaraka

![[0061_SB-1-2-13.jpg]]
*Dāsya-rasa (transcendental affection – servitude): “The followers of Kṛṣṇa who live in the transcendental city of Dvārakā are all great devotees who are constantly engaged in varied personal service to the Lord.” Each soul, according to its constitutional nature, possesses a unique loving relationship with Kṛṣṇa in one of the five principal categories. When devotees return to the spiritual world, they engage in direct loving devotional service to Kṛṣṇa in their particular rasa.*

The Battle Between Arjuna and Bhisma

![[0061_SB-1-3-7.jpg]]
*On the Battlefield of Kurukṣetra, the invincible military strength of the Kauravas was like a great ocean. But because of Kṛṣṇa's friendship, Arjuna, seated on his chariot, was able to cross over it.*

Rukmini-Dvarakadhisa in Los Angeles

![[0061_SB-2-1-8.jpg]]
*Our material senses cannot perceive the transcendental, all-spiritual body of the Supreme Lord. Nevertheless, out of His causeless mercy, the Lord, by expanding His spiritual potencies, can manifest Himself as the Deity, or arcā-vigraha, thus allowing us to see Him. Although seemingly made of material elements like stone, wood, or earth, the Deity, the arcā
incarnation, is directly Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself. The omnipotent Supreme Personality of Godhead can appear anywhere without being contaminated by matter.*

The Gopis Block the Path of Akrura's Chariot

![[0062_SB-10-7-5.jpg]]

The Beginning of the Battle Heralded

![[0063_BG--5.jpg]]
*1.14–15: Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna sounded their transcendental conchshells to herald the beginning of the battle. Lord Kṛṣṇa blew His conchshell, called Pāñcajanya; Arjuna blew his, the Devadatta; and Bhīma, the voracious eater and performer of herculean tasks, blew his terrific conchshell, called Pauṇḍra."*

Arjuna Overwhelmed

![[0063_BG--6.jpg]]
*1.27: When Arjuna saw all these different grades of friends and relatives, he became overwhelmed with compassion. Arjuna laments when he sees his relatives standing opposite him on the battlefield. A smiling Kṛṣṇa is ready to console His friend by speaking transcendental instructions.*

Draupadi Insulted

![[0063_BG--7.jpg]]
*Setting the Scene: The insulting of Draupadī in the Kaurava court: Draupadī, the wife of the Pāṇḍava brothers, was being disrobed by Duryodhana and Duḥśāsana, two of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons, after her husband Yudhiṣṭhira lost her in a gambling match. Dhṛtarāṣṭra is sitting on the throne. Kṛṣṇa supplied Draupadī with infinite sari fabric to save her honor in the assembly. Because of this incident and other offenses toward the Pāṇḍavas, Kṛṣṇa wanted the Battle of Kurukṣetra to be fought and the miscreants killed.*

Don't Lament for the Body

![[0064_BG--8.jpg]]
*2.11: “Those who are wise lament neither for the living nor for the dead.” Kṛṣṇa tells Arjuna that although his compassion for the fighters in the battle appears learned, Arjuna does know that those who are actually learned know the difference between body and soul and do not lament for any stage of the body.*

Transmigration of the Soul

![[0064_BG--9.jpg]]
*2.22: “As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.” The conditioned soul changes bodies from childhood to youth to old age and, at death, moves into the womb of another mother.*

Two Birds Seated on the Tree of the Body

![[0065_BG--10.jpg]]
*2.22, purport: Kṛṣṇa and the living entity are seated on the tree of the body. The bird on the left is captivated by the fruits of the tree, while the friendly bird on the right acts as witness. Similarly, the embodied soul enjoys or suffers the fruits of his material activities, while the friendly Supersoul acts as witness and waits for His friend to turn to Him.*

The Demigods Shower Blessings

![[0065_BG--13.jpg]]
*3.12: “In charge of the various necessities of life, the demigods, being satisfied by the performance of /yajña/ [sacrifice], will supply all necessities to you.”*

Kṛṣṇa Kills Kaṁsa

![[0066_BG--17.jpg]]
*4.8: “To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium.” Here Kṛṣṇa kills His demonic usurper uncle, Kaṁsa. Balarāma, Kṛṣṇa’s brother, stands nearby in blue. Behind Kṛṣṇa are Kṛṣṇa’s parents, Vasudeva and Devakī, who were imprisoned for years by Kaṁsa.*

Soul Destinations

![[0066_BG--18.jpg]]
*4.11: “As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects.” Kṛṣṇa reciprocates with the living entities according to their desire to serve Him as a servant, friend, parent, or lover. He also reciprocates with those who wish to merge into the Brahman, like the /yogī/ in the illustration. Others want only the fruits of their labor – power, wealth, beauty, or other ephemera of this world, and He also reciprocates with them according to what they desire and what they deserve.*

Krsna's Ten Principal Avataras

![[0066_BG-Avataras.jpg]]
*4.7: “Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself.” In the center Kṛṣṇa is shown holding a flute. Surrounding Him are ten of His incarnations, pictured in the order in which they appeared in this world, beginning clockwise from the lower left-hand corner: (1) Matsya, the fish incarnation, who saved the /Vedas;/ (2) Kūrma, the tortoise incarnation, holding Mandara Mountain on His back; (3) Varāha, the boar incarnation, fighting with the demon Hiraṇyākṣa; (4) Nṛsiṁha, the half-man, half-lion incarnation, killing the demon Hiraṇyakaśipu; (5) Vāmana, the dwarf incarnation, begging land from King Bali before reclaiming from him the entire universe and thereby restoring universal order; (6) Paraśurāma, killing the demonic kingly order; (7) Rāmacandra, who is going into exile with His wife, Sītā, and brother Lakṣmaṇa; (8) Kṛṣṇa, who is lifting Govardhana Hill. Beside Him stands His brother, Balarāma; (9) Buddha, sitting and teaching; (10) Kalki, who is riding a white horse and killing the demons at the end of this age, thereby liberating them.*

Kṛṣṇa Plays His Flute

![[0067_BG--24.jpg]]
*6.47: “Of all yogīs, the one with great faith who always abides in Me, thinks of Me within himself, and renders transcendental loving service to Me – he is the most intimately united with Me in /yoga/ and is the highest of all.”*

Krsna Brings the Cows Home in the Evening

![[0067_BG--27.jpg]]
*8.21: Kṛṣṇa brings His thousands of surabhi cows home at the end of the day. “That which the Vedāntists describe as unmanifest and infallible, that which is know as the supreme destination, that place from which, having attained it, one never returns – that is My supreme abode.”*

Krsna, the Goal of Life

![[0068_SB-1-1-10.jpg]]

Four Kinds of Pious Men

![[0072_BG-60.jpg]]
*Men of small intelligence seek favors from the demigods and obtain things that are temporary and taken away at death. In actuality, all these benefits are bestowed by the Supreme Lord alone.*

Krsna and Arjuna Blow Their Conches

![[0073_BG-54.jpg]]
*Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna sound their transcendental conchshells.*

Dasavatara

![[0075_BG-Avatar.jpg]]

Arjuna Sees the Universal Form

![[0075_BG-50.jpg]]
*As he gazed upon the universal form of the Lord, Arjuna prayed with joined palms.*

The Four Basic Occupations of Human Beings

![[0076_BG-42.jpg]]
*18.41–46: “Brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas, and śūdras are distinguished by the qualities born of their own natures in accordance with the material modes.”*

Govinda with Calf

![[0076_Gopal-1.jpg]]
*“Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me, and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend.”*

Kṛṣṇa, the Swift Deliverer

![[0077_BG-33.jpg]]
*12.6–7: Kṛṣṇa flies toward His devotee on the back of His carrier, Garuḍa, in order to lift His devotee out of the material ocean of birth and death. “Those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Pṛthā – for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death.”*

The Imperishable Banyan Tree of the Material World

![[0077_BG-35.jpg]]
*15.1–3: “It is said that there is an imperishable banyan tree that has its roots upward and its branches down and whose leaves are the Vedic hymns.... The branches of this tree extend downward and upward, nourished by the three modes of material nature. The twigs are the objects of the senses. This tree also has roots going down, and these are bound to the fruitive actions of human society. The real form of this tree cannot be perceived in this world. No one can understand where it ends, where it begins, or where its foundation is.”*

From Goloka to the Material Creation

![[0077_BG-36.jpg]]
*15.6: The spiritual and material worlds. The lotus represents the original spiritual planet, Goloka Vṛndāvana, the abode of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. The spiritual effulgence surrounding this planet is called the /brahmajyoti/ and is the ultimate goal of impersonalists. Within the unlimited /brahmajyoti/ are innumerable spiritual planets, each a home for a plenary expansion of Lord Kṛṣṇa and inhabited by ever-liberated living beings. Sometimes a spiritual cloud overtakes a corner of the spiritual sky. That covered portion is called the /mahat-tattva,/ or material sky. There, the Lord as Mahā-Viṣṇu lies in the Causal Ocean, the water within the /mahat-tattva./ While He sleeps, innumerable universes emanate from His breathing and float in the Causal Ocean. Mahā-Viṣṇu enters each universe as Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu and lies in the Garbha Ocean on the serpentine Śeṣa incarnation. From Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu’s navel a lotus stem sprouts, and on the lotus, Brahmā is born. Brahmā creates bodies for all the souls in the material world according to their karma and desires.*

The Five Factors of Action

![[0077_BG-41.jpg]]
*18.14: “The place of action [the body], the performer, the various senses, the many different kinds of endeavor, and ultimately the Supersoul – these are the five factors of action. Whatever right or wrong action a man performs by body, mind, or speech is caused by these five factors.”*

Krsna Reveals Himself to His Devotee

![[0078_BG-28.jpg]]
*9.11: “Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be.” Fools mock Kṛṣṇa’s humanlike form but devotees offer their obeisances. Behind Kṛṣṇa are Mahā-Viṣṇu and, in the smaller inset, Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, with creator Brahmā sitting on the lotus growing from His navel.*

Arjuna Prays to Krsna

![[0078_BG-29.jpg]]
*10.12–13: Arjuna offers prayers to Kṛṣṇa: “You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest. All the great sages such as Närada, Asita, Devala and Vyäsa confirm this truth about You, and now You Yourself are declaring it to me.”*

Krsna's Vibhutis (Opulences)

![[0078_BG-30.jpg]]
*10.41: A sampling of Kṛṣṇa’s infinite manifestations in both the spiritual and material worlds. In the outer circle, clockwise, beginning from the upper left-hand corner: Indra carrying his thunderbolt; the Himalayas; Lord Śiva with the Ganges River in his hair; the moon; the horse Ucchaiḥśravā; the transcendental /om-kāra;/ Kapiladeva; Rāmacandra; flower-bearing spring; Kāmadhuk; Arjuna; Vyāsadeva; Prahlāda; the shark; Vāsuki; Skanda; Varuṇa; Yamarāja; the lion; Kuvera; Agni; and Airāvata. Inner circle, clockwise, beginning from the four-headed Lord Brahmā sitting on the lotus flower: Brahmā; Nārada; Garuḍa; the sun; the ocean; Lord Viṣṇu; Ananta; and the chanting of the holy names – Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. “Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor.”*

Arjuna Sees the Universal Form

![[0078_BG-31.jpg]]
*11.13: “At that time Arjuna could see in the universal form of the Lord the unlimited expansions of the universe situated in one place although divided into many, many thousands.” Even as Kṛṣṇa displayed His universal form to Arjuna, He did not lose His identity as Arjuna’s friend and remains situated on the chariot with Arjuna.*

Krsna Returns to His Two-Armed Form

![[0078_BG-32.jpg]]
*11.50: “The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, having spoken thus to Arjuna, displayed His real four-armed form and at last showed His two-armed form, thus encouraging the fearful Arjuna.”*

Krsna Speaks the Uddhava-gita

![[0079_SB-11-2-6.jpg]]

Yasoda Binds Krsna

![[0080_SB-1-2-3.jpg]]
*With maternal affection, Queen Kuntī here remembers another of Lord Kṛṣṇa's bewildering pastimes. One day, the Lord, playing just like a human child, spoiled the stocked butter of Mother Yaśodā by breaking the pots and distributing the contents to His friends and playmates, including the celebrated monkeys of Vṛndāvana, who took full advantage of the Lord's munificence. Mother Yaśodā saw this, and out of her pure love she wanted to make a show of punishment for her transcendental child. She took a rope and threatened to tie Him up, as is generally done with ordinary children who have been naughty. Seeing the rope in her hands, the Lord bowed down His head and began to weep, and as tears rolled down His cheeks they washed off the black ointment smeared about His beautiful eyes. Because Queen Kuntī felt maternal love for Kṛṣṇa, she adored this image of Him. But because she knew Kṛṣṇa's supreme position, she was amazed that although He was feared by fear personified, He appeared to be afraid of His mother, who wanted to punish Him just like an ordinary child.*

Vasudeva Carries Krsna to Vrndavana

![[0080_SB-10-1-5.jpg]]
*EN KB 2018 one-vol: The Lord told Vasudeva and Devakī, “I know you are afraid of Kaṁsa and want to protect Me. Take Me to Gokula and exchange Me for the daughter just born to Yaśodā.” While carrying child Kṛṣṇa across the storm-tossed river Yamunā, Vasudeva
was sheltered by the hoods of Lord Śeṣa, an expansion of the Supreme Personality
of Godhead. The effulgence from Kṛṣṇa’s body dissipated the darkness so Vasudeva could find his way.*

Lord Kṛṣṇa immediately became pleased with them. All the unmarried gopīs had

they were satisfied. Nothing can compare with the Kṛṣṇa consciousness of the gopīs.*

Krsna Rescues the Kidnapped Princesses

![[0157_QK-6.jpg]]
*EN TQK: "O Lord," Queen Kuntī prayed, "no one can understand Your transcendental pastimes, which appear to be human and so are misleading." Kuntī knew that although Kṛṣṇa sometimes plays like an ordinary human being, in fact He is not ordinary, and whenever necessary He displays the powers of God. When sixteen thousand princesses were kidnapped by the demon Bhaumāsura, they prayed to Kṛṣṇa for deliverance, and in response the Lord went to the demon's fortified city to do battle with him. After smashing the fortifications Kṛṣṇa encountered and defeated a fierce five-headed demon named Mura. Finally, the Lord beheaded Bhaumāsura and released the frightened princesses. But according to the strict Vedic system, if an unmarried woman leaves her home even for one night, no one will marry her. Therefore when Kṛṣṇa told the princesses, "Now you can safely return to your fathers' homes," they declined. "O Lord," they replied, "if we return to our fathers' homes, what will be our fate? No one will marry us." "Then what do you want?" Kṛṣṇa asked. "We want You to become our husband." And out of His boundless mercy, Kṛṣṇa immediately accepted them.*

Krsna and the Cowherd Boys Swinging in the Forest

![[0157_QK-7.jpg]]
*Queen Kuntī was somewhat bewildered by Kṛṣṇa's humanlike pastimes, especially HIs childhood pastimes in Vṛndāvana. For example, the cowherd boys of Vṛndāvana were able to play with Him just as if He were an ordinary human child. Of course, neither they nor Kṛṣṇa were ordinary boys. The great sages who took birth as Kṛṣṇa's friends had spent many, many previous lives performing severe penances and austerities. Thus when Kṛṣṇa appeared in Vṛndāvana, India, some fifty centuries ago they were awarded the greatest possible benediction – the opportunity to play with the Supreme Personality of Godhead on an equal level. By Kṛṣṇa's special mercy they did not know that He was the Supreme Personality of Godhead; they simply loved Kṛṣṇa, and this was true of everyone in Vṛndāvana at the time of Kṛṣṇa's advent. Kṛṣṇa's father and mother loved Kṛṣṇa; Kṛṣṇa's girlfriends loved Kṛṣṇa; the trees loved Kṛṣṇa; the water loved Kṛṣṇa; the flowers, the cows, the calves – everyone and everything loved Kṛṣṇa. Not surprisingly, even a great devotee like Queen Kuntī could not fully fathom these wonderful relationships between Kṛṣṇa and His most intimate associates.*

*When Kṛṣṇa suddenly disappeared from the company of the gopīs, they began to search for Him everywhere. Not finding Him, they became almost mad after Him, thinking of His pastimes in great love. Being so absorbed in thought of Him, and with dampened eyes, they began to imitate His dancing, walking, and smiling, as if they themselves were Kṛṣṇa. Due to Kṛṣṇa’s absence they all became crazy; each of them told the others that she was Kṛṣṇa. Soon they assembled and chanted Kṛṣṇa’s name loudly as they moved from one part of the forest to another in searching of Him.*

He was enchanting even to Cupid. The gopīs were dancing in a circle, and in the middle of that circle, Kṛṣṇa, the son of Mahārāja Nanda, danced with Rādhārāṇī. Seeing this, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was overwhelmed with the transcendental mellow of the rāsa dance, and He thought, ‘Now I am with Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana.’”*

Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, ‘Who has brought Me here from Govardhana
Hill? I was seeing Lord Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes, but now I cannot see them. Today I went from here to Govardhana Hill to find out if Kṛṣṇa was tending His cows there. I saw Lord Kṛṣṇa climbing Govardhana Hill and playing His flute, surrounded on all sides by grazing cows. Hearing the vibration
of Kṛṣṇa’s flute, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī and all Her gopī friends came there to meet Him. They were all very nicely dressed. When Kṛṣṇa and Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī entered a cave together, the other gopīs asked Me to pick
some flowers. Just then, all of you made a tumultuous sound and carried Me from there to this place. Why have you brought Me here, causing Me unnecessary pain? I had a chance to see Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes, but I could not see them.’”*

Caitanya Mahaprabhu Speaks to the Temple Gatekeeper

life and soul? Please show Me Kṛṣṇa.” Saying this, He caught the doorkeeper’s hand. The doorkeeper replied, ‘The son of Mahārāja Nanda is here; please come along with me, and I shall show You.’ Lord Caitanya said to the doorman, ‘You are My friend. Please show Me where the Lord
of My heart is.’ After the Lord said this, they both went to the place known as Jagamohana, where everyone views Lord Jagannātha. ‘just see!’ the doorkeeper said. ‘Here is the best of the Personalities of Godhead. From here You may see the Lord to the full satisfaction of Your eyes.’ Śrī
Caitanya Mahāprabhu stayed behind the huge column called the Garuḍa stambha
and looked upon Lord Jagannātha, but as He looked He saw that Lord ]agannātha had become Lord Kṛṣṇa, with His flute to His mouth.”*

The Flute-song Carries Lord Caitanya to Vrndavana

![[Antya-5-3.jpg]]
*“Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu stood up, and then sat down again. Looking here and there, He inquired from Svarūpa Dāmodara, ‘Where have you brought Me? After hearing the vibration of a flute, I went to Vṛndāvana, and there I saw that Kṛṣṇa, the son of Mahārāja Nanda, was playing on His
flute in the pasturing grounds. He brought Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī to a bower by signaling with His flute. Then He entered that bower to perform pastimes with Her. I entered the bower just behind Kṛṣṇa, My ears captivated by the sound of His ornaments. I saw Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs enjoying all kinds of pastimes while laughing and joking together. Hearing their vocal expressions enhanced the joy of My ears. Just then, all of you made a tumultuous sound and brought Me back here by force. Because you brought Me back here, I could no longer hear the nectarean voices of
Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs, nor could I hear the sounds of their ornaments or the flute.’”*

Sri Caitanya Sees a Picnic

![[Antya-5-6.jpg]]
*EN CC Antya 5 1975: “Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu continued to describe His pastimes with Lord Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana: ‘In Vṛndāvana, the trees and creepers are wonderful because throughout the entire year they produce all kinds of fruits
and flowers. The gopīs and maidservants in the bowers of Vṛndāvana pick these fruits and flowers and bring them before Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. The gopīs peeled all the fruits and placed them together on large plates on a platform in the jeweled cottage. They arranged the fruit in orderly rows for eating, and in front of it they made a place to sit. Among the fruits were many varieties of coconut and mango, bananas, berries, jackfruits, dates, tangerines, oranges, blackberries, santarās, grapes, almonds and all kinds of dried fruit. There were cantaloupes, kṣirikās, palm fruits, keśuras, water fruits, lotus fruits, bael, pīlu, pomegranate and many others. Some
of them are variously known in different places, but in Vṛndāvana they are always available in so many thousands of varieties that no one can fully describe them. At home Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī had made various types of sweetmeats from milk and sugar, such as gaṅgājala, amṛtakeli, pīyuṣagranthi, karpūrakeli, sarapūrī, amṛti,
padmacini and kaṇḍa-kṣirisāravṛkṣa. She had then brought them all for Kṛṣṇa. When Kṛṣṇa saw the very nice arrangement of food, He happily sat down and had a forest picnic.’”*

*EN CC Antya 5 1975: “As His feelings of separation in the ecstasy of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī increased at every moment. Lord Caitanya’s activities, both day and night,
were now wild, insane performances. Suddenly there awoke within Śrī
Caitanya Mahāprabhu the scene of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s departure to Mathurā, and He began exhibiting the symptom of ecstatic madness known as udghūrṇā. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu spoke like a madman, holding Rāmananda Rāya by the neck, and He questioned Svarūpa Dāmodara, thinking
him to be His gopī friend. Just as Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī inquired from Her personal

*This Bhāgavata Purāṇa is as brilliant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the departure of Lord Kṛṣṇa to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc. Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of ignorance in the Age of Kali shall get light from this Purāṇa.*

Krsna Carries His Father's Wooden Shoes

![[Mad-2-9.jpg]]
*EN SB 10.2 1977: In any situation, Kṛṣṇa is always the infinitely powerful Supreme Personality of Godhead. But just to increase the ecstatic emotion of His intimate,
loving devotees like Mother Yaśodā and Nanda Mahārāja, Kṛṣṇa agrees to come under their control. Sometimes Nanda Mahārāja would ask Kṛṣṇa to bring him his wooden slippers, and Kṛṣṇa, with great difficulty, would put the slippers on His head and take them to His father.
At such times Nanda Mahārāja would exclaim, “My dear Yaśodā, just look at your offspring, Kṛṣṇa! See His blackish bodily luster, His eyes tinged with red color, His broad chest and His beautiful pearl ornaments. How wonderful He looks, and how He is increasing my transcendental
bliss more and more!”*
