Unless a person frees himself from all lusty desires for material sense enjoyment, he can never experience, or even understand, pure love of God in the conjugal rasa.*

*“Seeing the fearful giant bull, the gopīs, due to the madness of love, embrace the tamāla trees, which resemble Kṛṣṇa’s bodily hue.” The gopīs are the most intimate devotees of Kṛṣṇa and exhibit highest love of God. Sometimes the intensity of their love causes them to act in transcendental madness.*

In the spiritual world, devotees experience all varieties of emotions.*

*“We have seen that in Vṛndāvana even the cows, the deer, the birds, the trees – everyone – has been enchanted by the sweet vibration of Your flute and the fascinating beauty of Your person.” In His transcendental abode, Kṛṣṇa reveals Himself to His pure devotees, awakening within them deeper and deeper love of God and causing them to experience ever-increasing ecstasy.*
