Prabhupāda: …the crow and a peacock dance. Kāka-moya[?]. There is a story. Do you know it? Do you know? The crow imitated a peacock. He got some tail feathers and put, [laughter] holding his head up, and began to… So that is imitation. But if guru-vaiṣṇava blesses, even a crow can become a peacock. That is the… There is vast ocean of difference between peacock and crow. Still, by guru-vaiṣṇava, a crow can become a peacock.
SB 2.3.9
Prabhupāda: This is significant. Those who are Kṛṣṇa conscious, they have no material desires. Finished. Brahmaṇy upaśamāśrayam. Upaśama. Upaśama means completely finished, don’t want. They can worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Otherwise, without being akāma… Akāma means no material desires. Anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyam, completely. If we have got least desire for material enjoyment, Kṛṣṇa will give us chance again to accept a body which will satisfy the senses.
Morning Walk at Villa Borghese
Prabhupāda: …philosophy and the so many bogus svāmīs’ philosophies, they are different. They offer some material benefit by their philosophy: “If you take this mantra, then your material life will be easier.” People are captivated for material benefit. Spiritual benefit, they do not understand, and neither our philosophy provides any facility for material benefit. Although spiritual benefit includes material benefit, but people do not understand this.
SB 1.2.2
Prabhupāda: Yaṁ pravrajantam. Pravrajantam means to leave home in renounced order of life. That is called pravrajantam. Therefore a sannyāsī is called parivrājakācārya. A sannyāsī is supposed to be wandering without any shelter. That is called pravrajya. So Śukadeva Gosvāmī, he remained sixteen years within the womb of his mother. He did not come out. He was hearing his father within the womb. So this is called paramahaṁsa. So a paramahaṁsa does not require any reformatory process, because they are already reformed. Yaṁ pravrajantam anupetam. Anu. Ana means without. Upeta. Upeta means taking shelter of guru or being offered the sacred thread. Upanayanam. The sacred thread ceremony is called upanayanam. That means he did not undergo the regulative principles, because he was within the womb. Without any saṁskāra, he was going immediately, taking birth. Dvaipāyano viraha-kātaraḥ. The father certainly was expecting the son to remain at home. Every father expects. But he, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, immediately after his birth, he began to go away. He was simply just waiting, “When I shall be fit to immediately go out of home, I shall take my birth.”
Morning Walk
Prabhupāda: Yes. So when it is used for Kṛṣṇa… Just like these rascals, they do not know. They wanted to use it for themselves. It is ugly, no fruit. Give us… We see near Bombay, they have got so many coconuts. How beautiful it is with fruits and leaves. Because we use it for Kṛṣṇa. [break] …abhaya. They have got fear, the coconut will fall down on your head. [laughter] And they make it ugly. They kill children, but we, we’re training children how they’re offering obeisances. We do not kill. We beg them, Kṛṣṇa conscious. So our activities all spiritual. [break] …afraid of population. We say, “Create any number of population, but make them Kṛṣṇa conscious.” That is our restriction, that if you cannot make your children Kṛṣṇa conscious, then don’t beget. And if you can do that, then hundred children can be got. Na sasya. Na mocayed yaḥ samupeta-mṛtyum [SB 5.5.18]. This is our… We say that if you cannot beget Kṛṣṇa conscious child, don’t become father and mother. And if you can produce Kṛṣṇa conscious children, you become father and mother hundreds of children.
SB 6.1.26
So this is the general way of life. Everyone is engaged in these material activities, and the basic principle of material activity is gṛhastha, family life. Family life, according to Vedic system, or anywhere, is responsible life to maintain the wife, children. Everyone is engaged. They think this is the only duty. “To maintain the family, that is my duty. As comfortably as possible. That is my duty.” One does not think that this kind of duty is performed even by animals. They have got also children, and they feed. So what is the difference? Therefore here the word used is mūḍha. Mūḍha means ass. One who is engaged in such duties, bhuñjānaḥ prapiban khādan. Prapiban. Prapiban means drinking, and bhuñjānaḥ means eating. While eating, while drinking, khādan, while chewing. Carva cūṣya lehya peya. There are four kinds of eatables. Sometimes we chew, sometimes we lick up, carva cūṣya, lehya, sometimes we swallow, and sometimes we drink. So there are four kinds of foodstuff. Therefore we sing catuḥ vidhā śrī-bhagavat-prasādāt. Catuḥ vidhā means four kinds. So we offer to the Deity so many foodstuffs within these four categories: something is chewed, something is licked up, something is swallowed. In that way.
